David Tow

David has degrees in Urban Planning and Economics and over 20 years of experience focussed around energy and infrastructure, with more than 10 years in Asia and an extensive track record of successful delivery of renewable energy projects.
In 1999 he joined Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC) and in 2002 was posted to India as Regional Manager and then Executive Director for South Asia. He lived in Delhi for six years managing a high growth business across 10 countries with over 1,000 staff involved in the identification and delivery of renewable energy and infrastructure projects. He had direct corporate oversight and responsibility for the delivery of major engineering and project management contracts, including a number of landmark hydro-power, tunnelling and transport projects. As an Executive Director he has also been responsible for SMEC’s operations in China, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.
From 1998 he was a Foundation Director of Perenia Pty Ltd, a JV between SMEC, Mitsui Ltd and Pacific Hydro Pty Ltd focussed around the investment opportunities presented by the drive towards low carbon economies. In May 2009 he was appointed as Perenia’s CEO and successfully managed the start-up activities for this company, including early stage equity raising to enable investment into over 20 renewable energy projects across Asia. As CEO he expanded Perenia’s operations across Asia and oversaw the establishment of offices and project teams in Vietnam, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Australia.
